1. Get Your Flooring Delivered Early
Since you'll be buying the material, have it delivered a few days before installation and store it inside the home, in or near the rooms where it will be installed. Many products, especially wood, need time to acclimate to your home's conditions. Check your manufacturer's instructions.
2. Clear the Rooms
- Move small furniture, decor and fragile items out of the rooms
- Empty closets if their floors are being replaced
- Unplug and move electronics
- Ask us ahead of time about any large or heavy furniture
3. Plan for Kids and Pets
Installation involves tools, cut boards and an open work area. Plan for kids and dogs to stay in another part of the house, with a family member, or at daycare or doggy daycare during the busiest parts of the job.
4. Set Up Your Work-From-Home Space
If you work from home, set up your office in a room that isn't getting new floors, and let us know about important calls so we can plan the noisier work, like floor removal, around them when possible.
5. Expect Some Noise and Dust
Removing old floors and cutting new ones creates noise and some dust. We contain the work area and clean up, but closing doors to other rooms and covering items you can't move helps too.
6. Do a Final Walkthrough With Your Installer
Before we start, we'll confirm the rooms, board direction and transitions with you. When we finish, we walk the floor together so you can see the result and ask questions. Ready to schedule? Request your free estimate or call (720) 243-1478.
